Want a really quick fix to feel better about your relationship, when you are frustrated with it?
I have learned that being grateful for what I have allows me to transform the way I feel about my relationship in the matter of a few seconds. Here is an example from my new book Becoming Your Own Knight in Shining Armor; A Guide to Love that Feeds Your Soul that you can use to create this shift:
“Once I started dating my current husband, I consciously took stock of the traits he had for which I was thankful. He is caring, supportive, a good listener, giving, funny, an understanding and patient parent, and he loves the quiet as much as I do. Whenever I get frustrated with him about minor things, I remind myself of all the wonderful qualities he has. And soon enough, my annoyance seems small and easy to let go.
Many of my clients in relationships or in the dating scene notice that appreciating what their partners do well can completely shift the relationship dynamic. A client of mine going through relationship difficulties began to consciously thank her partner for being generous each time he paid for something. He was so inspired by her gratitude that he started giving her the physical affection she craved, while surprising her with small but heartfelt gifts. They both felt more connected as a result.”
