During the housing market collapse in 2008, I was getting divorced. Not only was I dealing with the emotional challenges of the breakup, but I also had to put our house on the market. I lived in Arizona at the time. Here the market was hit even worse than in many other places, which made this a nearly impossible feat. Quite unexpectedly, the very simple technique of affirmations helped me create the miracle I needed.

Choosing To Ignore Negative Realities
The house had been built in the ‘70s, and while it was standing on a beautiful piece of property, we hadn’t had enough money to remodel the kitchen and bathroom to bring them up to date.
Real estate agents would walk through the house and tell me that in this market our house was not going to sell for the price I needed. In a derogatory tone, they would tell me that homes down the street with marble countertops and modern bathrooms were asking for half my price. I owed the bank more money than that, and unless it sold for the asking price it would go into foreclosure.
Here is what reality told me: You cannot sell this house for the price you need. All the experts had confirmed this for me. During my marriage, I had somewhat gotten away from the principles of Law of Attraction. However, circumstances led me back to my practice. I remembered that the current reality had nothing to do with possible outcomes in the future.
How Affirmations Work
So I sat down to write my affirmation: “My house sells at the perfect price.”
With this, I visualized a contract that a buyer was signing for my price and that we would shake hands and smile. I read my affirmation several times a day and visualized this happening.
Two weeks later a couple from the Mid-West showed up at my doorstep. They had not been affected by the downturn as much. The husband was retiring and they were preapproved for the amount I needed. They looked at the house for a while and then left to look at others.
I continued to repeat my affirmation.
The Rather Stunning Effects of Affirmations
A few days later they came back. They said they really liked the house and wanted to take a second look. The husband stood in the garden for a while and when he came in he said to me: “I’ve seen many homes that are in better shape, but there is something about this house – I can’t quite pinpoint it – but I absolutely want to buy it.”
So the contracts were drawn up, we signed, shook hands and I repaid the bank our loan.
Thousands of people lost their homes during this crisis. One very simple act – repeating a daily affirmation – saved me from experiencing, even more, heartache in an already difficult time. If you would like to learn, how to create your own powerful affirmations, download my guidelines below.
