I have always really wanted to go to Hawaii. I had never been and the idea of spending time on a tropical beach seemed luxurious. I didn’t quite know when I could go or where the money would come from, so I created a vision board.
I started by going to Google images and printing out breathtaking images of Hawaii. My daughter really wanted to go to the Disney Hotel there, so I chose some photos of their hotel rooms and the adventures available: snorkeling, kids activities and walks on the beach. I glued all those images on a large black sheet of construction paper. My perfect vacation was right in front of me. To deepen the experience, I even listened to Hawaiian music. I spent about an hour with this project, looking for images and creating my board. Just the simple act of creating the board filled me with joy and anticipation.
I hung the board over my desk. Every once in a while, while working, I would look up and feel the joy these images gave me. For a few seconds at a time, I felt as if I were in Hawaii, enjoying my vacation.
A few weeks later, my mother-in-law said she wanted to go on a cruise. We started looking and found a really affordable Caribbean cruise. The images I saw in the catalogue came very close to the ones on my vision board. So we booked our entire family to go the following summer.
You may say: “But what about Hawaii?” The thing with manifestation is: you generally yearn for a specific feeling, not so much the entire form of it. The feeling I was after was being in a gorgeous tropical place with my family, where I could snorkel and where my daughter would have fun with other kids. We got all of that in the Caribbean.
What’s more, many of the details of my vision board (such as the colors of the hotel room, the kids club, the exotic location, the snorkeling) matched what I experienced on the trip. Some of it was better: We swam with a stingray and several large turtles (something I never thought of before) and the water was so luminescent – I would not even have been able to imagine such beauty!
Today I have a large cork board above my desk. My vision board is ever changing; whenever I achieve a goal I take down the image and place it in a box with all the other things I’ve manifested. And then I find a new image that represents my next dream and place it in that spot.
It’s such a fun simple thing! Today, I invite you to create a vision board of your own, placing images of your dreams in vibrant color in a spot in your home that you frequently see. And then sit back and watch what happens.
