“I’m broke!” is a common statement this time of year. Many of us have perhaps spent a bit more than we intended during the holidays and now, as the bills roll in, it’s easy to fall into a feeling of lack. So how can we turn this feeling around?
Luckily, the shift to abundance doesn’t require money. It doesn’t even require us to have a job. It simply starts with a change in our thoughts.
Look around you and take stock of all the things you own. Most of us in the Western Hemisphere have more than enough material goods. Many would even say that they feel that they own too much stuff.
Yet, we feel lacking.
Start with your pantry. Is there enough food for you to cook for several days, without even having to leave the house?
Do you have a bed to sleep in? Maybe even a very comfortable one?
Look into your closet? Do you have more than enough clothes to get through the week? Are there several pieces that you love? Are there even some you could give away?
Take in all the abundance that surrounds you. Absorb how much you truly have.
Thinking about what we do have allows us to focus on our wealth, rather than our lack. You will notice that your feelings of lack and worry slowly shift, as you contemplate all that you own.
To enhance this sense of abundance, make a list of ten things that you are grateful for in your life. Repeat this daily, always adding ten additional things. If you run out of ideas, make your list by topics (my family, my friends, my body, my car).
Remember: what we focus on is what we get more of. As we change our mindset from one of lack to one of gratitude and abundance we allow more prosperity to flow into our life, and ultimately…. this will help with paying off those holiday bills!
